Type of Industry

Flour milling company

Introduced Products

PowSilo, Table Feeder

Background and problem

We would like to make improvements to be able to respond instantly when there is an order from a customer.

We were contacted by a flour milling company which supplies flour-based products to food companies, stating that they wanted to be able to process raw materials speedily.

In the flour milling company's plant, there was no facility that could store raw materials—they would prepare them and manufacture the products every time they received an order from a food company. Because of this, there were two problems: "workers always needed to be staffed to prepare the materials," and there was "too much time taken to start manufacturing." Therefore, it failed to respond to orders speedily and reduce cost.

To solve the problem, they were considering introducing storage tank equipment which would enable them to take out raw materials at any time, and in the necessary quantity. However, there was a problem—if they introduced a storage tank and discharge equipment with a hopper equipped under the storage tank, they would not be able to store a sufficient amount of materials owing to the ceiling height inside the plant.

Results of introduction

PowSilo―storage tank equipment available in a wide range of capacities, from small to large.

In order to quickly process raw materials, we proposed increasing the number of storage processes, and they introduced our PowSilo.
It is available in a wide range of capacities from small to large, so we are able to propose a suitable silo according to the customer's usage.

This time, they introduced not only the PowSilo, but also a Table Feeder instead of a hopper for discharging materials, in order to make the total height of the equipment shorter.

Anti-bridge discharge equipment Table Feeder

The Table Feeder is a piece of discharge equipment installed under the storage tank.

When discharging from the storage tank equipment through a hopper, an appropriate height is required depending on the hopper's angle. Therefore, if there is a restriction to the total height of the equipment (ceiling height inside the plant), there will be a decreased storage capacity relative to the restricted height of the storage tank's hopper.

At the plant we made a proposal for, by introducing the Table Feeder instead of a hopper for discharging, it made possible for both gaining the needed storage capacity for the PowSilo and shortening the total height of the equipment.

It cannot be helped that residual powder occurs in the Table Feeder owing to its mechanisms, however, installing an optional function which discharges the residual powder with air enhances maintainability.

Succeeding in manufacturing efficiency and reducing cost by the storage process.

Increasing storage processes and introducing storage tank and discharge equipment made it possible to store the needed volume of raw materials with a restricted ceiling height. Consequently, the flouer milling company could start manufacturing immediately when they received an order, and succeeded in reducing the number of workers who had to prepare the raw materials which led to a cost reduction as well.

In addition, prior to introducing the equipment, there were often were problems regarding a shortage of the materials resulting in a delay in manufacturing. However, after introducing the equipment, these problems were solved and enabled efficient manufacturing.
